Week Twenty- Polar Animals

This week we learned about animals that live in the polar regions. We learned how the animals who live in this area eat, move and stay warm. Thanks our neighbor Mrs. Henderson for all the great ideas and for sharing all your "stuff" with us.
Writing our predictions.
Conducting the blubber experiment.
Comparing with blubber and without.
We compared how "blubber" kept us warm when we put our hands into ice. One hand was in a bag of vegetable shortening (covered by another bag) and the other was in a regular bag. Wow! what a difference blubber made!

Our prediction chart about our blubber experiment. I found this recording sheet on another teachers blog. I don't remember which one. Thanks for sharing this great activity!

Huddling together like penguins to stay warm. It really works!

We covered one hand in Vaseline to see how the oil on a penguin's feathers keep them dry.
