Week Ten Letter Pp & Pumpkins

Week ten was lots of fun! We learned about the letter Pp and pumpkins. We also read the story The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. The children loved using story props to retell the story. On Wednesday we watched the video It's the great pumpkin Charlie Brown and then we had a visit from the Great Pumpkin! She brought us a new book about the five little pumpkins for our book center.
Two big shoes go clomp, clomp!

One pair of pants go wiggle, wiggle!

One shirt go shake, shake!

Two gloves go clap, clap!

One hat go nod, nod!

One scary pumpkin head go boo, boo!

And scare the crows away!

Spiders and Firefighters! Week Nine

Week nine was all about spiders! Everyone (including me) learned lots about spiders. I caught a garden spider and put it into our butterfly pavilion (no butterflies were inside). Our spider made a web and we fed it a moth, a grasshopper, and a fly. We released Miss Spider back outside to go play with her friends and meet Mr. Spider on Friday afternoon.

We also discovered that spiders are hard workers. It takes lots of work to make a web. We used cooked spaghetti mixed with glue to make a web. It is much harder than it looks!

On Friday we had a visit from Sparky the firedog and we got to learn about fire safety during P.E.

We met the Fire Marshall Westley Bynum (Ms. Bynum our Health and Nutrition  teacher is his mom). We also met some other firefighters and learned lots about fire safety!

Week Eight

All our math stations included apple activities. In this station we glued die cut apples to match the number on the bowl.

Math station Fun! Glue the apples in the correct order 1-6.

We counted the apples in the baskets, then found the apple with the correct number and wrote that number on the basket and colored the apples to match the number apple. Learning number sense during math stations!

We measured apple trees using die cut apples during our math stations.
We compared our apples. We had more red apples and less yellow apples. We had the least number of green apples
We weighed our apples. His apple weighs 21 cubes.

We measured our apples. Her apple was 2 1/2 cubes tall.

Mrs. Landers our reading coach read Llama Llama Red Pajama for us. We had a pajama party with her and then got to see a real llama!
