Week Sixteen

We have been very busy this week learning about how other countries celebrate the Christmas season. Each day we have gotten a letter from our Gingerbread friend Gingy. He tells us all about the places he has visited and we usually read a book or story about the country and make something related to the way that country celebrates. Our next door teacher Mrs. Henderson and I have had a great time learning all about Gingy and his travels. We have also had fun with our elf on the shelf Chippy. So far this week he has left us suckers, and stickers. He also has played tricks on us. Tuesday morning all the chairs were turned upside down and red ornaments were thrown all over the floor! Wednesday morning we found our room rolled with bathroom paper and today we found Christmas ribbon all over the tables!

Monday morning Chippy brought suckers for us!

This was how we found our classroom on Wednesday morning. You can see Chippy hiding on top of the shelf in the corner of this picture!

More Week Fifteen & A visit from Santa!!!

Santa brought our elf to our classroom! Thanks to our sweet Mrs. Monica in the office!
We had an unexpected visitor this morning! Santa brought our Elf On The Shelf! He came to Big Spring Lake today for pictures and he brought our new elf personally to the classroom for us! Wow! We were all very excited about this visit. So we decided to name our new elf Chippy just like the elf on the movie we watched. He will be staying with us all day until Christmas break and returning to Santa each night to tell him all about the kiddos!

Our new Elf on the Shelf. The children named him Chippy after the elf on the movie!

We have been working hard and learning all about the Gingerbread man, We have read two versions of the typical story as well as The Gingerbread Baby, The Gingerbread Girl, and Gingerbread Friends.

I have included pictures of some of the activities we have been doing this week. It has been lots of fun.

A sweet way to practice beginning sounds. The children used stamps to put a picture of an object that begins with the sound for the letter in each space.

Label the Gingerbread man. I found this fun activity on the internet!
The picture of the gingerbread man the kiddos used to label their picture. I used our document camera to display the image on our interactive smart board. We are super  blessed with technology at BSLK!

Our visit with Santa. Everyone got a hug and a candy cane!
